Outfit Post | The Vintage Set Returns

Today, I feel positive. You know when you get stuck in a bit of an emotional rut and everything seems to be pretty crappy? Yeah, that. Sometimes it can be the biggest chore to pull yourself out of it, but with a little help from some wonderful people in my life (lovely fellow bloggers included) I'm starting to feel a bit more normal. And what better way to celebrate than with an outfit post. Haha. So smooth Megs, so smooth.

Hat: Topshop. Jeans: Topshop. Blouse: C/O The Vintage Set. Bag: Vintage. Boots: H by Hudson. Belt: Vintage Lipstick: Topshop Infrared.
It's no secret that I am a bit of a sucker for The Vintage Set. Not only do they boast the most amazing Vintage finds (this shirt being one of them), but Charlotte is literally such a darling. She started her very own blog last week too, go and check it out :) I always think it's so refreshing to have a lovely person behind a great brand. I was lucky enough to be picked by Charlotte to write a guest post over on The Vintage Set blog, where I answer a few vintage-y questions! If you want to have a nose, click here to read the full interview :)

This outfit, albeit a bit country (which seems to be a regular choice for me?!), is I think slightly transitional. The days of bare legs and floaty dresses are done for this year and therefore it is time for jeans and a good pair of boots with woolly socks. Agreed? Good. And even though it's a little bit more chilly, there's still a wee bit of sunshine holding out. Which is why this shirt is so perfect. It's thin, floaty, pretty and simple, all of my favourite things in a garment; and I'm particularly fond of the collar.

Hope you all had a fabby weekend. Mine consisted of Photography homework, watching an Elvis impersonator and copious amounts of sewing. Bloody brilliant.

September Joliebox | London Fashion Week

Now, this is my first time trying a Joliebox, and I was super excited when the post-lady knocked the door yesterday afternoon bearing 5 new beauty bits for me to try, squee :)

Before even opening the box, I was greeted with the fabulous JolieMag, which was such a treat. Including interviews with some wonderful ladies and a few hints and tips on making catwalk looks achievable. The contents of the box was tailored to London Fashion week, with the idea that you could use all the products as a pre-fashion week prep. To ensure you were looking your best for the paps ;)
Personally, I think this is a fantastic idea, it makes the beauty box that much more accessible, when all the items can used in conjunction with one another.

C/O Joliebox: Top to Bottom: Redken Align 12, Balmi Lip Balm, Twistband hair-tie, I Love... Coconut Face Mask, Dr Bragi,

I love that the Joliebox comes with a drawstring bag, and inside mine were these little goodies:

REDKEN Align 12 (Full Size RRP £10-15): Now, in my latest post I've admitted that I think less is more with hair care. And I think to some extent, I will always believe that. However, when I spotted this little handbag sized product I was immediately eager to try it. Volume is usually the factor I go for with my hair, but I must admit when I'm in a rush blow drying my hair, it does end up looking like a big fat bush (the tree kind, ahem). This product promises to smooth the hair leaving it silky and completely straight, whilst adding a little protection. I washed my hair last night, and gave it a good blow dry to test the water. I'm impressed. My hair was poker straight, and frizz free but it was still big and bouncy. Big thumbs up from me!

Balmi SPF 15 Mint Lip Balm (Full Size RRP £4.99): I nearly wet myself with excitement when I saw this. I have a big love for lip balms, and this one is actual perfection. Not only is it ridiculously aesthetically pleasing. C'mon guys, it's a cute little ball of lip balm.  But it's application is so clever. The balm itself is domed, which means you can apply it to both your lips at the same time! I got the mint flavoured one, which is so nourishing and soothing on the lips. Definitely going to pick some more of these up! Also, lovely to see a full sized product in the box :)

Twistband Hair Ties: This. This right here is the best thing EVER. Yes, it's a hairband, and I'm probably a bit too excited, but I don't care. It's my favourite thing in this box. I wear my hair up a lot, and sleep with my hair up too (because there's so much of it), and hate that I end up with a big fat kink in my hair when I have to take it down. This new invention not only looks prettier than a regular hairband, it doesn't leave a kink in your hair! It's lighter and less harsh on your hair but still has a great hold. I'm not sure if you can actually buy them in the UK yet, but they're so cheap in the US it's insane. MASSIVE love for these!

I love... Coconut Face Mask (Full Size RRP 49p?): I love (haha) the I love... brand. I have a few of their body washes from Superdrug and they smell divine. However, I really disliked this face mask. When I opened up the sachet the product was so gloopy I couldn't actually spread it over my face! The bits that managed to stick to my face dripped off, and I admit, I took it off before it could fully set. Not something I would consider using again :( (it smelled amazing though!)

Dr. Bragi Bio Marine Exfoliant (Full Size RRP £25): I tried out one of the little satchets before I tried the Coconut mask. I loved it. The fine beads were big enough to feel like they were working the dirt out of my skin, but not large enough to cause any discomfort. My skin felt so smooth and fresh after use and there was no irritation (my skin is super sensitive, so I was impressed)!

Overall, I am massively happy with this months edition, not only was it a new twist on the beauty box theme, meaning I could use all the products in the same evening; but I've discovered some fab brands that I may not have tried otherwise.

Have you signed up for your Joliebox yet? If so, what variety box did you receive this month? :)

p.s. You can still get your hands on this box, if you subscribe by midnight on Sunday 30th Sept!!

Daily Hair Care Routine | Video

This is my hair:
Over on my little YouTube channel, I have had many a request to film my 'Hair Care Routine'. I am warning you now, be prepared to waste about 5 mintues of your life if you watch this video, because I probably have the most boring, plain routine known to man!
Like most things in my beauty regime, I like to keep my hair care quite simple. And although I love trying and testing new products, in all honesty I am very lazy, so once I find something that really works for me I stick to it. In my experience, too much product is definitely not the way forward. Keeping it simple leaves my hair full and manageable!

Hope you guys enjoyed it :) all the links to the products I use are in the down bar of the video content, should you wish to read up on them in further detail!

What about you...Do you have any hair care products you couldn't live without? :)

My Daily Make-up Routine | Video

So this is my face without make-up:
Not a pretty sight! But I had quite a few requests to film a 'Daily Make-up Routine' on my YouTube channel, so here it is...

I probably should've saved this video for a day where I wasn't recovering from the flu, or had only 4 hours sleep, but filming it once was more than enough for me!!
It's taken quite a bit of guts to post my naked face on the internet for all to see, so if you're feeling in a bit of a mean mood, it would be lovely if you didn't say anything haha. (I know I have serious bags and spots going on, blergh).

My make-up routine hasn't changed for a LONG time, I kinda just stick to what I know, so if anyone has any tips for me please let me know :) would love to learn a few new tricks.

Body Shop | Shimmer Cubes Palette

Whilst I was away on hols, I did some guest posting for some other bloggers too! This one here, is one I did for the absolutely gorgeous Sammi of Samantha Avena  (pretty please go and check out her blog, it's full of amazing photography and wonderful lifestyle stories). I'm a little bit in love with her to be honest. In the least creepy way, obviously. Anyway, I thought you guys might like to see what I wrote over on her blog!

It’s quite odd really, the product I’m about to mention has been a staple in my makeup routine since I can remember. I’m talking almost 10 years folks (I know, I’m that old); but it’s the only makeup product I own from this brand. How ridiculous.
The Body Shops Shimmer Cubes are literally my favourite thing ever. In one little pot you get 4 different cubes of eye shadows. There are quite a few to choose from in the range and I own the Shade 06 in ‘warm’.
I love the idea of them being in cubes, it’s super cute and makes me happy (it’s the small things, eh?) :) Each little pot is generous in size, meaning that they last forever and a day. I’ve literally had mine for over a year and have hardly made a dent. Obviously the colours chosen in each palette are there to complement each other, and blend beautifully. I’m not the best at achieving a ‘smoky eye’ look, but here’s my typical way to wear these four shades together…

Natural, and easy. I'm not really one for anything too heavy. Now, pigmentation/staying power is clearly a huge factor considered when choosing your eye shadow and these certainly don’t disappoint. I think the main reason these last so long is that you need minimal product to achieve a dramatic look, and even less to achieve a subtle glow (like mine); and it will stay put for hours. One of these bad boys will set you back £16, but when you take into consideration the quality of the product, and how long it will be sat on your dressing table, I think it’s completely justified!

You can also get 40% off your order online with Body Shop today!! Just type in TIME at checkout to redeem your discount :) Barrrrrgaiiiiiiinnnnn!

What do you think; does this beauty tickle your pickle? Or do you have a favourite palette I should know about?

Outfit Post | Country Bumpkin and the Flu

This weekend, I have the dreaded woman flu. I don't know if you've heard, but it's a hell of a lot worse than that silly old 'man flu'. So really, I should have stayed put in bed yesterday, but I had arranged to see a dear old friend and we had such a lovely day. Luckily, she was happy to take a few snaps of me prancing about in a field (I fear I won't be able to muster any sort of energy to make myself up for a wee while); after we'd spent the morning traipsing to the doctors, shopping to our hearts content, stuffing our face with mc donalds and stopping off for a quick pineapple and lemonade (best drink ever, fact). I am now utterly exhausted.

Anyway, you know how I said in my last post that I was falling back in love with Topshop again? Well, these snaps definitely back that up.
Blazer: Topshop Top: Vintage Leggings: Topshop Boots: Annie and the Mannequins Hair: MESS

I am a big fat fan of these velvet flocked check leggings. Not only are they super cosy and warm, they're a complete steal. At only £28 I couldn't quite believe it had Topshop's name to it. And I know, before you say it, yes they're only leggings and not jeans etc. etc. but they are amazing quality and so sturdy! I know I'll definitely be wearing them a lot more now the weather's turning a little bit chilly. Autumn/Winter is definitely my favourite time of year. And although I love the sun, I much prefer wearing comfy, warm clothes; I cannot wait to start wearing my big, oversized, fluffy jumpers and ridiculous PJ's.
Yesterday, the sun was out but there was certainly a bit of a chill in the air (may just be my lurgy..). So even though these leggings are SO warm, I thought I'd team them with something a little lighter. The cream blouse is a favourite of mine (actually the mothers underwear, again). It's silky, loose material means it goes with almost anything, and it's lovely and cool. I also popped on my trusty black blazer and cowboy boots. After all, this is the countryside you know.

Have you all had a lovely weekend? Get up to anything exciting?

Outfit Post | Rekindling Love - Topshop

For a while, Topshop lost my trust. They were throwing out pieces of clothing that to be frank, didn't fit the bill. The quality was getting poor, and the price tag was getting increasingly higher. So for a while, I said ciao! But it's as if they knew! The cheeky devils are slowly (but surely), bringing me back over to the dark side. There have been a few pieces of late that I just haven't been able to resist like this dress here, and this skirt I'm wearing below...

Sandals: River Island

I absolutely love it. It's like, do I want a long skirt on or a short skirt on? Hmm, I want both. VOILĂ€! the midi-skirt is definitely a must have for me and this one makes me want to purchase a few more. The shade is gorgeous and the cut makes for ultimate swhishy-ness, which we all know I love!
The gorgeous Lily, of I am Lily Bee was selling a few of her GORGEOUS clothes on ebay, (not gunna lie, want to be her a little bit ;)) and I snapped up this lovely little lace crop top for a fraction of the price it retailed at (also Topshop). I thought it went beautifully with the purple midi skirt, which retailed for £38. They don't have my one in stock any more, but they have brought out a new one which is a bit yummy in it's replacement, have a peek here if you like mine!

When I'm on holiday, I like to feel comfortable, but also look like I've made a bit of an effort with myself. And I think this outfit ticks both boxes, do you?

Life in general is not so peachy at the moment. I won’t go into any detail, but I will say a big thank you for all your lovely comments on my blog as of late. It really makes my day brighter :) (Apologies for that slice of cheese there, but it felt necessary). You are a wonderful lot!

Hope all is fine and dandy your end :)

Burt's Bees Reviews #2 | Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme

Whilst I was away, I did a little guest posting myself over on the ever lovely Charlotte's blog; Lil Miss Chickas. If you haven't already definitely go and check it out, it's full to the brim with amazing beauty bits and bobs and she's just a bit wonderful too.  Anyway, I thought you guys might like to have a little read of the post I wrote for her...

Burt’s Bees are fast becoming my go to brand for super indulgent, affordable beauty products. This is my second reviewon them since I received my little GrabBag a few months ago (a bargain bag filled with lots of goodies); so without further ado I introduce to you the Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme

To be honest, being a beauty blogger I should definitely take more pride in the appearance of my nails, but I usually find it such a chore. You will regularly find me with chipped and chapped nail varnish and crappy cuticles. Well, no more I tell you, no more! Not since I discovered this baby anyway…

The heavenly lemony scent was enough to have be bagged and tagged right away. It’s unlike any other I’ve tried before. The typical formulation is liquid based, and isn’t overly practical for on the go ladies, but it’s no mess and no nonsense with Burt’s Bees. The creamy, waxy consistency makes it feel far superior to its competitors and is ideal for carrying about in your handbag for on-the-go top ups. What's that I hear you say? 'Isn't it greasy?' No, it certainly is not! After using this on only a few occasions I can already see a huge difference in the appearance of my nails; they’ve soaked up all the fruity goodness and feel so soft and healthy. For only £5.99 there is no question that I will be purchasing this again and again.

What do you think? Have you explored the Burt’s Bees range yet?

Outfit Post | Paisley Print Love

You'll usually find me prancing around in a floaty dress or skirt; but I do love a good pair of jeans and top too. Sometimes it's just nice to be comfy, you know? Blouses and shirts are fast becoming a favourite in my wardrobe; so when the lovely ladies at Lavish Alice offered me the chance to pick one off the website I was very excited…..

Shirt: c/o Lavish Alice Collar Brooch: Vintage Belt: Vintage Jeans: Italy Boots: H by Hudson
If something has a collar I’m probably going to want it; and this one makes me swoon like there’s no tomorrow. Neutral shades are my thing, and the paisley print really makes this blouse for me. The light, sheer chiffon material means it’s perfect for summer (although completely see-through, so have your strappy tops at the ready ladies!), and the silky paisley strip makes it feel so luxurious and expensive. But it’s NOT! Yayyyy, we all love a bargain, don’t we? It’s a measly £21, which kicks topshops butt any day of the week. I love how paisley is slipping it's way in to the fashion market, I really like the subtly of this print, and I think my collar brooch (picked up from a charity shop for £1) compliments it well.
The beauty with shirts is that you can dress them up or down, so I chose to go for a more casual look, teaming this beaut with my new favourite skinnies and trusty old boots. Farmer girl-esque? Probably.

Megs Went to Italy

Anyone who reads my little blog, will know that for the last 2 weeks I was off galavanting in Italy. Daniel and I went away with my family, and stayed in a secluded teeny tiny little village called Colmurano, it was just ridiculously beautiful. The holiday consisted mainly of lounging by the pool, eating far too much pasta, a little sight seeing and more lounging. I thought it might be quite nice to share a few of the photo's with you...I know I'm a RIGHT nosy parker when it comes to things like this, so here you go :)

WARNING: Photo Heavy Post: if you're not keen on just sifting through a few images...look away now!
